Libya/Iraq: Ghaddafi's daughter joins Saddam's legal team

Aicha Moammar Gadhafi, a law professor, will form a Libyan law experts team to defend Saddam Hussein, Ziad al-Khasawneh [a Jordanian lawyer and member Saddam's legal team] told The Associated Press.

[...] A statement issued late Thursday by a charity association headed by Gadhafi's daughter, in her late 20s, said she wanted to guarantee Saddam received a "fair trial (based on) the principle that all accused should be presumed innocent until proven guilty." (source)

A French lawyer who is a member of Saddam Hussein's legal team said that Libya had proposed "financial and logistical help" to defend the ousted Iraqi leader.

"We have set up an initial fund (which) effectively comes from gifts from different countries... The only one I am able to tell you about is from Libya," Emmanuel Ludot told a press conference.

He said the elder daughter of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi wants to gives "logistical and financial help. It is Libyan money. It will be welcome."
