Uganda: the "night commuters"

Each evening in Northern Uganda, thousands of young children walk to the town of Gulu to spend the night in whatever shelter they can find ... and each morning, they walk back to their homes. They are called the "night commuters" and they are trying to avoid capture by the Lord's Resistance Army -- an armed group notorious for kidnapping children and forcing them to become soldiers ... the girls are also forced to become "wives".

There are some 13,000+ of these "night commuters" and many walk for hours to get to the town. Food and adequate shelter are big problems.
